waiting

My favorite butterfly on a favorite flower!

Waiting.  Something we all have to do.  Some of us wait better than others.  Personally,  I can be on either side of the fence depending on what I’m waiting for.  I usually don’t mind waiting in lines or for appointments – it’s a great time to watch, to sit and watch people, or catch up on some reading, or emails.  Waiting in anticipation of events, such as the upcoming Daughter’s wedding – no problem!  My list could go on and on… and in fact, it does!  That’s so much of what our lives seem to be about.  Hurry up, and wait.

But the other side of the fencewaiting on God.  That’s where I really seem to struggle so many times in my life.  I was just thinking the other day, there have been so many times over I have had the opportunity to wait on God, to wait on His answer, to sit back and just wait – you would think by now, I’d be good at the waiting.  His Word keeps coming back to me . . .

But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagle, they shall not run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.  Isaiah 40:31

Still in these seasons of waiting, waiting for the prodigal one to return to the fold, waiting for the Holy Spirit to speak to the heart, to chisel away the lies and the deceit that has blinded one, I continue to wait.  We continue to wait, and we continue to pray for God’s will, not ours.  This is not hurry up and wait.  It’s a process and it’s His timing.

I thought of this butterfly we saw while at the Butterfly Museum in Branson a couple of summers ago.  How majestic and beautiful it looks.   Yet thinking back to the beginning of the butterfly as a caterpillar, that is then wrapped up in a dark cocoon, staying trapped inside until the time is just perfect.  The butterfly is then able to break free from all the trappings it has been in, and it is free.  Free because of waiting for the transformation to take place.  So it is with waiting on God – His time is always perfect. So I wait.

I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I’m waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait

I will move ahead, bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience
While I’m waiting
I will serve You
While I’m waiting
I will worship
While I’m waiting
I will not faint
I’ll be running the race
Even while I wait

I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I’m waiting on You, Lord
Though it’s not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting
I will serve you while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting on You, Lord

About beegee10

I am a follower of Jesus on the journey of discovering His real, lasting joy through God's grace and thanksgiving. Several years ago, I married my best friend, whom I met in kindergarten many years ago. Life choices took each of us on separate paths, but Divine Appointment brought our paths back together. It's exciting to share this journey with my sweet man - a man who loves God more than he loves me! What a gift!! As a young woman I prayed for God to send a godly man like my daddy to pursue me. I just wasn't listening and abiding when I should have been. Good news in HIS time and in HIS grace, HE did! Not only does my sweet man love me, but he loves my three grown kids as if they were his own. He shares their joys and he hurts when they hurt. I love to hear him pray for each of them daily as we begin and end our days. View all posts by beegee10
