slow fade

disappearing-slowly

The enemy’s overall purpose is to oppose God whenever . . . wherever possible.
His chief means is deception.  deception through lies, schemes, promises, fears, anxieties.
Satan – the prince of deception.

the first battle arena is temptation.
luring
enticing
persuading
provoking

we open ourselves up through ignorance or deliberate disobedience – delusion.
duped
seduced
tricked
beguiled

The enemy doesn’t take us down with a big, single blow.  No, it’s a little nudge here, a little nudge there.  A little at a time.  It never happens in a day . . . it’s a slow fade.

The thing about deception . . . you don’t know you have been deceived because you are deceived.

Last night during my small group Bible study, the song “Slow Fade” by Casting Crowns was so poignantly shared with our group.  Each of us around the room were so emotionally moved by the music video for our various reasons.  When I heard the little girl singing, “Be careful little eyes what you see, be careful little ears what you hear, little mouth what you say” . . .

My heart was pulled in so many directions.  Tears were streaming down my face.

I wanted to be able to turn back the hands of time.  Powerful words. Vivid images.

I saw myself as the little girl singing this very song.  And then, as the young mother rocking babies singing and teaching this familiar song to my own three precious, little ones. . . my three miracles of God.

How the slow fade permeated our lives . . . the destruction of a family.

. . . the slow fade has taken “little ones” into generational sin.
. . . the slow fade of repeated broken promises and empty words.
. . . the slow fade took me into the fog of deep depression.  So deep, that I could not even see how the enemy was slowly luring precious ones away.
. . . the slow fade as the enemy whispers the lies. And each of us believe the words that tell us we are not worthy.
. . . the slow fade that settles us into mediocrity . . .a spiritual wilderness.
. . . the slow fade that lured a son to run . . . run away from his identity in Christ.

Good news . . . there is HOPE!

We have been delivered from the power {the domain} of darkness and have been transferred into the Kingdom of the Son He loves.  We have redemption, the forgiveness of sins, in Him. “~ Colossians 1:13

Be careful little eyes what you see
It’s the second glance that ties your hands as darkness pulls the strings
Be careful little feet where you go
For it’s the little feet behind you that are sure to follow

It’s a slow fade when you give yourself away
It’s a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
It’s a slow fade, it’s a slow fade

Be careful little ears what you hear
When flattery leads to compromise, the end is always near
Be careful little lips what you say
For empty words and promises lead broken hearts astray

It’s a slow fade when you give yourself away
It’s a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day

The journey from your mind to your hands
Is shorter than you’re thinking
Be careful if you think you stand
You just might be sinking

It’s a slow fade when you give yourself away
It’s a slow fade when black and white have turned to gray
Thoughts invade, choices are made, a price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
Daddies never crumble in a day
Families never crumble in a day

Oh be careful little eyes what see
Oh be careful little eyes what you see
For the Father up above is looking down in love
Oh be careful little eyes what you see
